The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) the outright winner of the recent local council elections, clinching all 21 chairmanship and 225 councillorship positions.
Chairman Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad-Mera announced the results in Birnin Kebbi, revealing that 17 political parties participated in the polls.
Muhammad-Mera confirmed that the Commission ratified and adopted the results as announced by the Returning Officers and electoral wards. He expressed delight at the peaceful conduct of the exercise, praising security agencies and stakeholders for their support.
Notably, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had boycotted the elections, alleging bias by the KESIEC leadership, who they claimed were APC members. Despite this, the APC emerged victorious, securing all available positions.
