A grieving widow, Mrs. Esther Fidelis Osaghae, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding her husband's death at his workplace in Auchi, Edo State.
The petition, filed by Akin Faadeyi Foundation, alleges a cover-up by the Police Divisional Headquarters in Auchi. Mrs. Osaghae claims her husband, Mr. Fidelis Osaghae, died under questionable circumstances while working for Mr. Oyemike Valentine, who owns a hotel and recreational center.
According to the petition, Mr. Osaghae had made a video call to his wife on July 29, 2024, but failed to return home. His boss, Mr. Valentine, later informed his wife that she should come to Favour Hospital, where she discovered her husband's lifeless body with strange marks and injuries.
The widow alleges that the police have shown no willingness to take action, instead quickly exonerating Mr. Valentine. She has lost confidence in the local police and urges the IGP to take over the investigation to ensure justice for her husband's death.
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed that the matter is under investigation, but Mr. Valentine has not responded to calls for comment.
