The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, and several others for alleged cultism and cybercrime during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Akure.
According to the Police, the suspects' berets featured insignia that betrayed their true intentions. Ajayi and other protesters, including Patrick Owolabi, Oluwatobi Akinkuotu, Kolawole Kumuyi, and Olalekan Oladehinde, were arrested on Saturday near the NEPA roundabout and Arcade Arena.
Although the Police acknowledged receiving notification of the protest from Ajayi's group, Take It Back Movement, they claimed the protesters disregarded directives and were joined by suspected hoodlums, necessitating the arrests.
The Police statement explained that the initial approval for the protest was granted, but the group's failure to adhere to instructions and the influx of malicious elements led to the arrests. The Police emphasized the security threat posed by the high-profile suspects and sought public cooperation as the state approaches gubernatorial elections.
