The Ogun State Police Command has successfully apprehended a seven-man gang responsible for wreaking havoc in Ijebu-Igbo Local Government Area and its environs.
Following the earlier arrest of two gang members, Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday, who confessed to killing victims after collecting ransom, the remaining five members have now been caught.
Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu announced the breakthrough at a press briefing, stating, "I am excited to announce that all members of the gang have been arrested and have made confessional statements."
The additional suspects arrested include Ifeanyi Mathias, Anayo Simeon, Ayo Adedayo, Chibueze Odah, Ejiofor Nwali, Eke Peter, Monday Paul, and Chukwuma Zainab.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to robbing and killing a POS operator, Oluwaseun Samuel, and using his Moniepoint account and machine for their operations.
They also admitted to kidnapping eight families, killing two, and collecting over N7 million in cash and valuables. The police recovered a blue Tecno Camon phone and three expended cartridges from the suspects. Alamutu assured that the suspects will be charged in court following a thorough investigation.
