The Ogun State House of Assembly has given its nod to the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission's (OGSIEC) request for revised election guidelines, aligning with the provisions of the Ogun State Regulations Approval Law 2020.
The approval came after Deputy Speaker Bolanle Ajayi presented a report on the commission's request during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide. The motion for adoption was moved by Deputy Whip Tella Babatunde and seconded by Damilare Bello, receiving unanimous support from lawmakers through a voice vote.
Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff later moved the motion to convert the committee's recommendations into a House resolution, seconded by Minority Leader Lukmon Adeleye, and supported by the entire house through a unanimous voice vote.
Earlier, Speaker Elemide acknowledged and read a letter from OGSIEC Chairman Babatunde Osibodu requesting approval for the revised guidelines. Additionally, the speaker received correspondence from Governor Dapo Abiodun proposing a bill to improve electricity generation, transmission, and distribution in Ogun State.
