Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has christened the newly launched 6,000-capacity Edo State Arena after Afrobeats sensation, Rema. The governor announced this on his social media handle, following the groundbreaking ceremony held in Benin City.
Located at the former Garrick Memorial School Ground, the "Rema Dome" is a testament to the state government's commitment to promoting entertainment and cultural events. Rema, who hails from Edo State, expressed his gratitude and pledged support for the project's completion.
Governor Obaseki explained that the need for a large venue to host events drove the government's decision to acquire the property.
The arena is expected to host concerts, national conferences, and international music sensations like Rema. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Uyi Oduwa Malaka.
