NAF Pledges to Protect Nigeria's Democratic Institutions

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force's (NAF) commitment to safeguarding the country's democratic institutions, values, and principles.

He made this declaration during a meeting with Gombe State Governor, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya, emphasizing the NAF's constitutional responsibility to protect and strengthen these foundations.

Air Marshal Abubakar acknowledged that state governors bear the primary burden of security but assured them of the Armed Forces' and other security agencies' support as willing partners in upholding citizens' rights and freedoms.

He also addressed the recent protest in Gombe State, which was hijacked by unscrupulous elements, necessitating extra security measures. The NAF deployed an aircraft for reconnaissance and joined sister security services in quelling the unrest.

Governor Yahaya expressed appreciation for the NAF's and other security agencies' efforts in addressing security challenges, enabling citizens to pursue their livelihoods with minimal threats.

He commended the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group for their swift response in quelling recent cases of looting and theft during the civic protest. The Governor pledged his government's commitment to providing infrastructure support to the 109 CRG to enhance their effectiveness.
