A catastrophic fire swept through the LG office in Abule Osun, Trade Fair, Lagos, on Sunday, leaving a trail of devastation and destruction in its wake. The inferno, which gutted the entire premises, resulted in substantial financial losses, with estimates suggesting millions of naira worth of goods and electronics were reduced to ashes.
Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Management Agency (LASEMA), revealed that the agency's emergency response team sprang into action upon receiving distress calls in the early hours of Sunday. Upon arrival, they were met with a ferocious blaze that had already spread throughout the warehouse, engulfing equipment, forklifts, and a vast array of household goods and electronics.
The cause of the fire remains a mystery, but LASEMA is working in tandem with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to prevent further escalation. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported, but the fire's intensity forced the evacuation of the entire premises.
The situation is still being brought under control, with additional firefighting resources and personnel deployed to the scene. The Nigerian Army and Police are also providing support, ensuring the safety of all individuals in the vicinity.
