The Nigerian Government has announced that a fresh report on Dangote Refinery's diesel sulfur content will be released on Monday. This disclosure was made by the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority's (NMDPRA) Spokesman, George Ene-Ita, in a statement on Sunday.
Ene-Ita's statement was in reaction to the rejection of claims made by Dangote Refinery's Chief Executive Officer, Farouk Ahmed, that the refinery's petroleum products were inferior compared to imported ones. The NMDPRA Spokesman revealed that the authority has embedded about 15 engineers and scientists in the Dangote refinery and will release a fresh report on the refinery's diesel content.
According to Ene-Ita, the NMDPRA has done its job and will not engage in a media fight with Dangote Refinery. This development follows the revelation by Ahmed last week that the Dangote Refinery is not yet licensed to operate and that its petroleum products were inferior.
In his words, "Dangote Refinery, as well as some modular refineries like Watersmith Refinery and Aradel Refinery, are producing between 650 and 1,200 PPM. Therefore, in terms of quality, their products are inferior to imported ones."
However, Dangote dismissed Ahmed's claims, calling for an independent test on its refinery's products. "The imported one they are encouraging is the spec in test, but in certain cases, when you check (independently), different results will show. Because those people who have the lab have been told what to write," Dangote said while hosting the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbass, and other ranking lawmakers at the Dangote Refinery over the weekend.
