Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has levelled accusations against the government of President Bola Tinubu. He claims that Tinubu's administration has a history of disregarding transparency issues and ignoring due process in public administration.
Atiku voiced his concerns on X, where he highlighted the unresolved $3.3 billion NNPCL loan as evidence of the corruption issues plaguing Tinubu's administration. He stated, “The current federal government has a disgraceful track record of ignoring issues of transparency and due process in public administration. The unresolved $3.3 billion NNPCL loan repayment scandal, with Nigeria now expected to repay $12 billion, remains a glaring example."
He further urged the Tinubu administration to address these high-profile corruption cases with transparency. Atiku emphasised the constitutional obligations of the National Assembly, as the elected representatives of the people, to legislate for the peace, order, and good governance of the nation, without colluding with corrupt elements.
Atiku warned, “Failure to do so and persisting in denial will only confirm the government’s complicity in official malpractice." His comments serve as a stark reminder of the need for transparency and due process in government affairs.
