President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of a new management team for the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
The newly appointed team includes Gbenga Alade, who will serve as the Managing Director/CEO, Aminu Ismail and Adeshola Lamidi, who have both been appointed as Executive Directors, and Lucky Adaghe, who will take on the role of Executive Director for the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
In a statement released on February 22, 2024, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, conveyed the President's expectations of the new appointees. He stated that the President anticipates unflagging dedication, professionalism, and dutifulness from the new team. This is in line with his determination to ensure that the operations of AMCON are more efficient, transparent, and in consonance with his commitment to sanitize the nation’s financial system. The ultimate goal is to maximize value and enhance investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.
