This development was confirmed by the operators in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
The operators attributed the increase to the challenges they face in obtaining cash from banks. As reported by NAN, the charges for withdrawals of N5,000 and N10,000, which were previously N100 and N200 respectively, have now been raised to N200 and N400.
Ms Eno Umoh, one of the operators, appealed for understanding regarding the current charges, stating that they should not be held responsible for the situation. "We are simply trying to stay in business and ensure we continue to serve our customers.
We understand the current economic realities, but we are paying a lot to get cash to keep the business running. It's not all about making profits as people might think," Umoh explained.
