The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has projected a blend of haziness and sunshine from Saturday to Monday across the nation.
In a weather outlook issued on Friday in Abuja, NiMet forecasted a moderate dust haze on Saturday with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km over the northern region during the forecast period.
"A sunny sky in a hazy atmosphere is anticipated over the north-central cities and the inland cities of the south. Partly cloudy skies in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the coastal belt of the country," it stated.
The forecast also projected the possibility of localised thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day.
It further stated that sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the inland cities of the South during the forecast period, adding that patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period.
Looking ahead to Monday, it explained that a moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North, Northcentral and inland cities of the South during the forecast period.
It added that a few cloud patches are expected in a hazy atmosphere over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period. The agency urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are suspended in the air.
It also advised people with asthma and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the present weather situation and urged airline operators to obtain updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
