This development was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by Musa Yahaya, the acting deputy director of army public relations for the division.
Yahaya stated that the recoveries were made as part of the troops' efforts to rid Kaduna's forests of bandits. He explained, "The troops acted based on credible intelligence and in collaboration with Kaduna vigilance service; laid an ambush on the bandits around the general area of Dogon Dawa-Damari in Igabi local government area."
According to Yahaya, the bandits were forced to flee in confusion due to the superior firepower of the troops. The troops subsequently recovered one Bareta pistol, one AK 47 rifle, and one AK 47 rifle magazine.
In a similar development, the statement revealed that troops stationed at Kwanar Mutua in the Birnin Gwari local government area received intelligence about the presence of bandits. The troops engaged the criminals with overwhelming firepower, causing them to scatter and retreat into the nearby high ground. Following this engagement, three motorcycles abandoned by the bandits were recovered.
