Florence Okpe, the representative for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Ogun State, verified the occurrence in a conversation with Channels TV. She further revealed that the collision involved two vehicles, specifically an ash-coloured Toyota Hiace Bus bearing the registration number FKY898YF, and an orange-coloured Iveco Truck Tipper.
In addition to the fatalities, at least seven individuals sustained injuries in the accident. Okpe confirmed that these victims have been transported to Famobis Hospital to receive necessary medical care. The remains of those who tragically lost their lives have been moved to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander, expressed deep sorrow over the devastating accident, stating that it could have been prevented with the appropriate precautions. He stressed the importance of drivers taking a 15-minute break every four hours of driving, as fatigue has been identified as a significant contributor to road traffic accidents. This advice was also shared by Okpe.
