Nigeria Reiterates Support for Two-State Solution in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing its support for a two-state solution.

Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed this position after a meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdallah Abu Shawesh.

Ambassador Tuggar reiterated Nigeria's commitment to a two-state solution, asserting that both parties have the right to independent states. He lamented the loss of innocent lives in the conflict and urged an end to hostilities.

"I reiterated to him [Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria] Nigeria’s position, which is for a two-state solution and our strong opposition to indiscriminate violence against civilians. Nigeria voted in favor of a cessation of hostilities in Gaza, and this is our unwavering stance," he said.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has led to extensive casualties, including a significant number of civilian deaths, particularly among children. The United Nations has described Gaza as a graveyard for thousands of children.

The Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria sought Nigeria's support due to the country's influential position, both in Africa and globally.

Ambassador Shawesh emphasized that Israel was engaging in a multi-fronted campaign against the Palestinians—militarily, politically, and in the media. He called on Nigeria to raise its voice and take significant action to save civilian lives and address humanitarian concerns in the wake of the mass destruction in Gaza.

The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians continues to be a source of deep concern, with calls for peaceful resolution and a two-state solution gaining prominence on the international stage.
