Obi highlighted the devastating impact of criminal activities on the predominantly business-oriented population of the Southeast. He stressed that the loss of livelihoods due to insecurity in the region necessitated a unified approach to find a lasting solution to the problem.
"Insecurity is detrimental to our region's economic activities, and it's crucial that we come together as a united front to tackle this issue," Obi stated. "Our primary strength as a people lies in our business acumen, but no business can thrive in an environment plagued by insecurity."
He commended the Southeast governors for organising the summit and encouraged all stakeholders, whether present at the event or not, to actively contribute ideas and be part of the initiatives aimed at resolving the security challenges in the region.
Obi concluded by urging divine guidance, wisdom, strength, and courage in the collective effort to restore peace and tranquillity to the Southeast and the entire nation of Nigeria.
The Southeast region has been grappling with security issues, including cases of violence, kidnapping, and clashes between security forces and armed groups. The summit represents a significant step toward addressing these concerns through collaboration and unity among regional leaders and stakeholders.
