Kanu, the embattled leader of the separatist movement, called for an end to all sit-at-home actions in South-East aimed at compelling the Nigerian government to release him from detention.
Kanu's call was made in a handwritten letter authorised to his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, during a world press conference held in Enugu.
In the letter, Kanu warned that any individual engaging in sit-at-home in the region is no longer his disciple.
He specifically addressed his self-acclaimed disciple, Ekpa, urging him to desist from calling for any sit-at-home in the future and to publicly announce that he received a direct order from Kanu to end any pending sit-at-home actions.
However, in response to Kanu's directive, Simon Ekpa described it as fake and an insult taken too far. He asserted that the letter was manufactured by the Department of State Security (DSS) and urged his supporters to disregard it.
Ella, who refers to himself as the Prime Minister of Biafra under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, emphasized that he and his followers would not take any orders from the Islamic DSS.
He further stated that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released and must address Biafrans from Finland, setting this as a condition for the Prime Minister of Biafra and the Biafra Republic Government In Exile.
The rejection of Kanu's directive by Ekpa highlights the internal divisions within the IPOB leadership, as the separatist movement seeks to advance its cause for Biafra's independence.
