The command's spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, identified the suspects as Jalomi, Ciroma, and Bulama. The murder took place on June 7 after the trio accused Goni Waje of having an affair with the wife of Bulama, who is the local chief and father of Jalomi and Ciroma.
Eyewitnesses stated that the deceased was attacked with a cutlass and then burned to death by Alhaji Jalomi and Ciroma.
The incident reportedly started as a fight, during which Waje used a knife to injure the father of the suspects. In retaliation, Bulama instructed his sons to pursue Waje, ultimately resulting in his horrifying death by burning.
Following the incident, the three suspects voluntarily surrendered themselves to the Yunusari Divisional Police Station. Bulama, who had sustained injuries during the altercation, sought medical treatment and involved the police in the investigation.
Waje, initially identified as the accused, was subsequently arrested at the Yunusari Police Division. Shortly after their father's arrest, the perpetrators of this heinous crime turned themselves in at the Yunusari Division.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed that the three suspects have been transferred to the criminal investigation department for further inquiry. The body of Goni Waje has been deposited at the Specialists Hospital in Damaturu.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into this tragic incident to ensure that justice is served.
