According to Hundeyin, the police received information that the suspect had entered the hospital, under the pretence of being a patient, and subsequently stole the newborn infant. "She entered the female ward and carried a day-old baby boy while the mother was fast asleep after undergoing surgery," he explained. Fortunately, another patient noticed the suspect's suspicious behaviour and promptly alerted the hospital authorities, leading to her arrest.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that the suspect had travelled from Oyo State. Furthermore, she confessed that she had been contracted by an individual known as Alfa to acquire a day-old baby for the purpose of a money ritual. Hundeyin disclosed that further investigation uncovered that this was the suspect's second instance of child theft.
The stolen baby has since been reunited with the relieved mother. The Lagos Police Command has assured the public that the suspect will face prosecution once the police investigation is completed. Child theft is a serious crime, and the authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case.
The Lagos Police Command continues to encourage individuals to report any suspicious activities or incidents promptly. Their commitment to maintaining law and order within the state remains unwavering, as they work tirelessly to protect the residents and uphold justice.
