Among the issues cited were dilapidated structures, irregular power supply, insufficient staff, and a lack of functional medical equipment. To gather firsthand information, Governor Aliyu arrived at the hospital in a tricycle.
During the four-hour visit, the governor expressed surprise and disappointment at the conditions he witnessed. He noted that patients and their relatives were subjected to hazardous situations due to the unclean environment and the absence of functional equipment in the hospital. The unreliable electricity supply also forced patients' relatives to rely on alternative sources of power.
Governor Aliyu expressed his concern over the situation and emphasised the need for immediate action. He instructed the hospital management to meet with him for further discussions on how to address the issues raised.
The governor's spokesperson, Malam Abubakar Bawa, quoted him as saying, "I have directed the management of the hospital to see me for further discussions on how to remedy the situation."
A reliable source within the hospital's management informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the current poor state of affairs can be attributed to the failure of previous administrations in the state to release the monthly allocations due to the hospital.
