The young boy has been battling his condition for several months, having spent five months in the hospital prior to suffering a stroke. Okeke, the father, shared the heartbreaking account of their journey, saying, "My 10-year-old son, Chinedu William Chukwuma, has a hole in the heart, which caused him a brain abscess. He has been in the hospital for five months."
Their journey began at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where William underwent treatment for months. Unfortunately, after the sixth week, he experienced a stroke that has left him unable to walk. Okeke expressed his deep concern, stating, "We started with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where he spent months. He had a stroke after the sixth week. He can't walk now."
Following the stroke, William was transferred to the Stroke and Neuro Centre in Owerri, where he stayed for 40 days. Subsequently, he was admitted to the FMC Owerri, where he remained for three months. The stroke has had a profound impact on the young boy, leaving him unable to walk and weakening his left hand. Okeke shared the doctor's recommendation, explaining, "According to the doctor, his weak left hand urgently requires surgery to remove the weak bones."
The family's hope lies in the scheduled cardiac catheterization and early surgical VSD closure at Narayana Health in Bangalore, India. However, the financial burden weighs heavily on Okeke, who expressed his distress, saying, "I don't have the money to take him to India. The estimated cost is about $10 to $15,000."
Appealing to the public for support, Okeke pleaded, "Please, I'm seeking your financial assistance to save my boy. Please help me, I'm a desperate father. Please save my boy." The family has set up an account where donations can be made: Account Number 1001616334, Name: CHINEDU WILLIAM, Bank: FCMB.
This heart-wrenching plea serves as a reminder of the critical importance of coming together as a community to support those in need during times of immense hardship. Any contributions towards William's medical expenses will bring hope and the possibility of a brighter future for this young boy and his family.
