Fashola acknowledged the difficulty of building through 40,000 vehicular traffic daily on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, noting that the date for completion is now set for the 30th of April. The remaining nine kilometres from kilometres 17 to 27 will be left unfinished as the Oyo State government is constructing drainage across the road to address excessive flooding and climate change in the area. The second Niger Bridge link road, which was recently opened to traffic, is scheduled for completion by May 15, and snag resolutions, lane marking, and erection of signages will soon commence.
Fashola emphasised the importance of infrastructure projects in connecting the country and stimulating economic growth and expressed his appreciation to the contractors, workers, and commuters for their patience and understanding throughout the construction process. He also revealed that the President will be invited to the completion ceremony just two weeks before the end of his term.
