The Minister congratulated workers across the country on their resilience, hard work, diligence, and sacrifice, noting that their contributions are essential for the country’s greatness and dignity. According to Aregbesola, “There is dignity in labour. The nation will continue to celebrate workers’ dedication and commitment to work because their services are vital to nation-building and African Renaissance”.
He urged workers to imbibe the culture of productivity and raise the bar of their trade. Aregbesola said, “The end of work is productivity. It is productivity that leads to value creation, satisfactory provision of goods and services, and wealth creation. It is, therefore, the path to national and individual prosperity”.
The Minister assured workers that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is focused on the security of the life and property of every citizen and foreigner in the country. He commended all security agencies for the successes recorded in the fight against criminals across the country and encouraged them not to relent.
Aregbesola also called on Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspicious individuals and activities to law enforcement agencies nearest to them. The Minister’s announcement was received positively by workers across the country, who welcomed the recognition of their contributions to the development of the nation.
The Workers’ Day celebration is an annual event observed on May 1st in many countries around the world. It is a day set aside to honour the contributions of workers to the development of their respective countries. In Nigeria, the day is usually marked with speeches, rallies, and other activities organised by labour unions and other worker-based organisations.
This year’s celebration comes amid various challenges faced by workers in the country, including rising inflation, unemployment, and insecurity. The Nigerian government has been working to address these challenges through various policies and programs aimed at improving the economy and creating more job opportunities.
As workers in Nigeria take a day off to celebrate their contributions to the development of the country, it is important to reflect on the challenges they face and rededicate efforts to create a better future for all.
