Bola Tinubu declares readiness for presidency

Amidst a jubilant crowd of supporters, President-elect Bola Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Monday, declaring his readiness to assume office on May 29. Mr Tinubu had been away on vacation for over a month, which had led to rumours about his health. However, he denied the rumours and said he returned refreshed and ready for the task ahead. "Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I'm strong; very strong," he said in a statement by his media aide Tunde Rahman.

Mr Tinubu added that he had been consulting and planning to put together a strong team so that he could hit the ground running once he assumed office. He arrived in Nigeria aboard his private jet, accompanied by his wife and son, and was welcomed by a mammoth crowd of enthusiastic associates and supporters at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Vice-President-elect Kashim Shettima, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, and Governor Simon Lalong were among the dignitaries who welcomed Mr Tinubu at the airport. Others present were Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello, ex-Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, and former EFCC chairman Nuhu Ribadu.

The president-elect's return to Nigeria comes as the country is facing numerous challenges, including insecurity, economic downturn, and political unrest. Mr Tinubu has promised to tackle these issues head-on and restore stability and prosperity to the country.

Many Nigerians are eagerly awaiting Mr Tinubu's inauguration and hoping that he will deliver on his promises. His return to Nigeria has given them renewed hope and confidence in his ability to lead the country in the right direction.
