Police begins investigations on Yul Edochie's 16-year-old son's death
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Kambilichukwu Edochie, the 16-year-old son of popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie. Kambilichukwu died on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos where he was rushed after developing a seizure while playing football with his mates.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in the state, who confirmed the development in a statement on Friday morning, March 31, said the actor reported the death of his son to the command. Hundeyin said the matter would be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department on Friday, March 31, for investigation.

Edochie had taken to his social media platforms to mourn his son, describing him as a "loving child with a bright future." He urged the public to pray for his family during this trying time.

The news of Kambilichukwu's death has elicited an outpouring of sympathy from fans and colleagues of the actor. Many have taken to social media to express their condolences to the Edochie family.

Kambilichukwu was the last child and only son of Yul Edochie. He was a student at a private secondary school in Lagos and was said to be an avid football lover.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State government has commiserated with the Edochie family over the death of their son. In a statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, described the incident as "heartbreaking and tragic."

Omotoso urged the family to take solace in the fact that their son lived a life of purpose and impacted many during his short stay on earth. He also expressed the government's commitment to supporting the family during this difficult time.

The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has also expressed his condolences to Yul Edochie and his family. Rollas described Kambilichukwu's death as "devastating" and prayed for the repose of his soul.

In the same vein, other Nollywood actors and actresses, including Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, have also expressed their condolences to the Edochie family. They described Kambilichukwu's death as a "huge loss" to the entertainment industry and urged the family to take heart.

The news of Kambilichukwu's death has also sparked a conversation on the need for parents to pay closer attention to the health and well-being of their children. Many have called for increased awareness of epilepsy and other medical conditions that could lead to seizures and sudden death.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterised by recurrent seizures, which are caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Seizures can range from mild to severe, and they can occur at any time.

While epilepsy is treatable with medication, many people with the condition still suffer from stigma and discrimination. This has led to a lack of awareness and understanding about the disorder, which can have devastating consequences.

In light of Kambilichukwu's death, many Nigerians have called for increased awareness and education on epilepsy and other medical conditions that could lead to sudden death. They have urged parents to take their children's health seriously and to seek medical attention if they notice any unusual symptoms or behaviours.

Meanwhile, Yul Edochie has thanked his fans and colleagues for their outpouring of support during this difficult time. He described his son as a "special child with a heart of gold" and urged the public to remember him for his "kindness, love, and generosity."
