Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, the national vice president of the group, stated that the decision was based on "monumental irregularities" and the fact that INEC did not follow its own rules during the election. He noted that there are many steps to an election and the 2023 presidential election may not be over yet.
Okeke-Ogene said that the election was the worst ever conducted by INEC and that President Muhammadu Buhari's comments during one of the campaigns that Tinubu is the next president before the election was conducted indicated that it was rigged.
He also criticized INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for promising Nigerians that their votes would count and that the ballots would be transmitted electronically but doing everything manually, resulting in many Nigerians' votes not counting.
He also mentioned that if the LP goes to court, all the ugly things done during the February 2023 presidential election will be exposed for the world to see. Okeke-Ogene stated that the LP and its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, had changed how politics worked in the country and that Nigerians are now more determined to take back their country.
He also highlighted that with what happened in states like Lagos, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and other places, it is evident that Nigerians are no longer talking along tribal inclinations. Okeke-Ogene urged the rest of the world to not only send observers to Nigeria during elections but also punish those who hurt democracy there.
