It was gathered that the defendant unlawfully dealt in 50g of Cocaine and 211g of Heroin, and the hard drugs were recovered from him. Both drugs are listed in the NDLEA schedule as banned narcotics, and dealing with them contravenes the provisions of section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Law of the Federation 2004.
However, no date has been fixed yet for the defendant's arraignment. The NDLEA has been at the forefront of the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria. In recent times, the agency has intensified efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the country.
The agency has also been partnering with other local and international law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit drug trade. Drug trafficking is a global problem that affects many countries and individuals, and the NDLEA has taken a proactive stance in fighting it.
The agency has put in place several measures to prevent the trafficking of illicit drugs and to reduce drug abuse among Nigerians. These measures include public education campaigns, drug abuse prevention programs in schools, and the establishment of rehabilitation centres for drug addicts.
