While visiting Joda polling units at the GRA in Birnin Kebbi, Bande expressed his disappointment at the ongoing vote-buying activities in the state. He stated that the PDP has records of cases of vote buying in many polling units across Birnin Kebbi and other areas of the state. Bande noted that the situation has made it difficult for fair and free elections to take place.
He further emphasised that vote buying undermines the integrity of the electoral process and distorts the people's will. The retired general called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a level playing field for all candidates in the election.
The PDP candidate also urged voters to resist the temptation to sell their votes, noting that their votes were their power to elect leaders serving their interests. He advised them to exercise their rights and vote for the candidate of their choice without fear or intimidation.
Meanwhile, reports from other parts of the state revealed that voting was ongoing in many polling units, with some areas recording a large turnout of voters. However, there were also reports of isolated cases of violence and intimidation in some polling units.
Bande, therefore, urged the security agencies to be proactive in ensuring the safety of voters and election officials and preventing vote buying and other electoral malpractices.
The PDP candidate also commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise in most areas, noting that the people of Kebbi State have demonstrated their commitment to democracy and the electoral process.
He urged them to remain vigilant and to report any acts of violence or irregularities to the relevant authorities, stating that the PDP would not tolerate any form of electoral malpractice.
Bande further called on the electorate to remain calm and peaceful, as the outcome of the election would be determined by the votes cast by the people. He expressed confidence in the ability of the PDP to emerge victorious in the election, noting that the party had a solid and loyal support base in the state.
As the election progresses, stakeholders and observers will closely monitor the Kebbi State situation to ensure the process is transparent and fair. The election outcome would have significant implications for the political landscape of the state and the country at large.
