The Adamawa State Governorship election has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The announcement was made at the state collation centre in Yola on Monday night, with further details to be released soon.
The results that had so far been announced were inconclusive, prompting INEC to declare the election a stalemate that cannot produce a clear winner. The electoral body has requested a court order to conduct another gubernatorial poll in the affected wards and local governments, with date changes still being determined.
This decision followed allegations of challenges such as low turnout of voters, disruptions during voting and snatching of electoral materials during balloting. INEC assured all political stakeholders that it would continue its effort to ensure free, fair and credible elections processes in Adamawa state.
