Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has rescinded the ban on motorcycles in the state's Sankera axis.
The directive followed the decision of the High Court of Justice in Gboko, Benue State.
The court overturned a Benue State Security Council order that prohibited the use of motorcycles in the state's Sankera axis in order to reduce criminal activity in the area.
Following criminal activity in the Sankera axis, Ortom announced a ban on motorcycles and old Toyota Corolla models known as 'duck yanch' in March 2021.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, on Tuesday, the ban is lifted immediately.
"Governor Ortom insisted as a government that believes in the rule of law and due process, his administration was bound to revert its action,” the statement read.
