Prior to the state's general elections in 2023, Alhaji Abubakar Kwaire, a special adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal, switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sen. Aliyu Wamakko's (APC-Sokoto North) special adviser on media and publicity, Bashar Abubakar, claimed that Kwaire was greeted in Sokoto by Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, the APC candidate for governor of the state.
The new APC member, according to Abubakar, was a former member of the State House of Assembly and was from the Tambuwal Local Government.
He claimed Kwaire had stated that Wamakko's potent leadership abilities had inspired him to join the APC.
“Therefore, I believe with Wamakko as APC leader and Aliyu to govern our state, if elected, more dividends of democracy are expected, “he said.
Kwaire said again that he would help all of the party’s candidates win so that Sokoto State and Nigeria would be better off.
In his speech, the candidate for governor welcomed the new member and promised to treat him the same as all other party members.
