According to Femi Olugbemi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker, Omiata was a vibrant, articulate, and outstanding lawmaker whose demise is a great loss to the state. Olugbemi expressed his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, traditional rulers, and people of Yagba East State Constituency.
Omiata was a two-term member of the Kogi State House of Assembly and was the first person to win two consecutive elections to the House from the Yagba Local Government area of the state. He hailed from the Igbagun community in the Yagba Local Government of the state.
His passing has been mourned by many in the state, who have described him as a dedicated and hardworking lawmaker. The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has also expressed his sadness over Omiata's demise and sent his condolences to his family and constituents.
