Just In: FCT PDP Chairman Dies on Election Day

Mr. Sunday Zaka, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), passed away in an auto accident in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. along the Guda-Arena road, Kuje town, where Mr. Zaka lost control of his Peugeot car and crashed into a tree on his way home after attending a closed-door meeting of the party in Abuja.

According to a close aide to the deceased, Mr. Bawa Benjamin, who confirmed the incident through telephone, Mr. Zaka was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada but was confirmed dead by doctors.

The chairman of Kuje Area Council, Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, also confirmed the FCT PDP chairman’s death. Mr. Zaka's demise is a significant loss for the PDP and his family. It is a reminder of the need for all road users to take caution while driving to avoid such tragedies.
