Elder statesman and head of the Afenifere movement, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, stated on Monday that he wasn't shocked that Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate, won in Lagos state during the current presidential election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, Tinubu, received 572,606 votes, while Obi received 582,454 votes. With 75,750 votes, Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar finished third.
Adebanjo, who declared before the election that he would support Obi, told reporters that the outcomes shown that young people are prepared to retake their nation.

He claimed that by accepting bribes, being dishonest, and using goons, Tinubu has continuously won elections for the APC in Lagos.
“Obi’s victory in Lagos in the presidential election is the wish of the people. Tinubu has always won in Lagos by thuggery, bribery and corruption. But the youths are awake now.
“That’s why they are attacking the Igbos so as to make it look like it is a Yoruba affair”.
“Although it is a miracle for us to win in Lagos with all the violence because all the Obas are campaigning against us. The message all over the country is that the youths are now awake to take back their country,” Adebanjo said.
