Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused certain media outlets of "suppressing" the presidential candidacy of Rabiu Kwankwaso. During an interview on an Arise TV show on Wednesday, Galadima claimed that Kwankwaso would be elected as Nigeria's next president and "shock everyone," despite a "grand conspiracy" to hide his support.
According to Galadima, this conspiracy is set to be "crushed" at the polls on Saturday, and he further stated that Kwankwaso is the only candidate with sufficient support and experience to lead Nigeria. Galadima added that the NNPP presidential candidate had worked hard to build this support, travelling over 10,000km in the last five days and holding rallies across the country.
Galadima claimed that some state governments are suing the federal government over the policy to change the naira because they had been shortchanged by President Buhari. He went on to allege that one governor had saved up N22 billion before the election, which is why some candidates are supporting the policy.
However, Galadima also claimed that his party was not one that relied on TV campaigns or handing out money, and thanked President Buhari for "dealing" with such politicians. He said that money would not be an instrument in the election, even though certain candidates had allegedly collected funds directly from the CBN.
Despite the NNPP's impressive support, Galadima claimed that a section of the press had been "compromised" to suppress their chances. He accused these media outlets of failing to report on the party's strides, which he said were unprecedented in the last five days.
Galadima's statement comes ahead of Nigeria's upcoming presidential election, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday. The NNPP, along with other political parties, has been campaigning vigorously for their candidates, and the results of the election are eagerly anticipated.
