According to the Lagos State Police Command, one person was reportedly killed and one police officer was hurt during the protest by some Yoruba Nation agitators on Monday in the Ojota area.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesman, verified the event to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Though he emphasised that the case was still under investigation, Hundeyin did not specify how many people had been arrested.
NAN's on-site correspondent said that tear gas was used to disperse the throng by the Lagos State Taskforce, OP MESA, and other police divisions.
NAN noted that the protestors destroyed three additional vehicles and set a bank security car on fire.
As there were no automobiles available, several commuters were left stranded at Ketu and Ojota and were forced to walk. (NAN)
