The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has given unspecified sums of money in the form of checks to the families of the officials who were attacked and killed by bandits in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State.
He added that his employment offers to the families of the seven fallen troops had been approved by Interior Minister Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Audi informed the officers, men, and bereaved families at the NSCDC Kaduna Command Headquarters that the Corps had lost officers in the line of duty in the past, but not as many as in the Kaduna incident.
He called the killings "massive," yet he urged his colleagues to keep going.
The NSCDC commandant asked his staff to continue giving 110% for the sake of national security.
“Death is inevitable; it is heart-touching losing the personnel.
“Although this is not the first time we are losing personnel, it’s so painful that we lost seven personnel at a time.
“It is a great loss, that is why I am here personally, to encourage all of you, to continue to do your best and not give up,” he said.
Possibly through the Minister’s office, Public Relations Officer Olusola Odumosu has begun paying death benefits and other entitlements to the impacted officers, as alluded to in a statement he released.
He said the Corps had been paying out death payments, retirement benefits, and accident and group life insurance to employees promptly.
