The Kaduna State government has offered to cover Nasara James Dabo's high school and college expenses. Nasara is a 13-year-old who won the Junior Category gold medal in the 2023 International Mathematical Olympiad.
Nasara outperformed 150 rivals by answering 34 maths questions correctly in 172 seconds, earning 145 points (less than 3 minutes).
Nasara learned about the sponsorship when Dr Hadiza Balarabe, the state's deputy governor, paid her a visit at her Kaduna home.
Born and raised in the Kaura neighbourhood, Narayi Nasara is a student at Ideal International College.
The maths prodigy was joined by her parents, Mr and Mrs James Dabo, as well as her maths tutor.
However, Nasara Dabo told the deputy governor about her desire to pursue a career in medicine.
The constable advised her to prioritise her studies since, in her opinion, achieving her goal will enable her to have a beneficial influence on many people's lives in the neighbourhood.
