One Mr Dennis Egbejule and his son were allegedly murdered, and Mr Raymos Guanah, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for the Patani Constituency of the Delta House of Assembly, charged security forces with finding the perpetrators.

On Monday, the deceased was allegedly shot dead on their property in the Toru Angiama neighbourhood of the state's Patani Local Government Area.

Guanah urged for sufficient security for farmers to enable them to travel to their farms during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Asaba, particularly in the aftermath of the extensive damage caused by the flood of 2022.

He claimed that encouraging ranching was the best approach to stop the recurrent incidents of suspected herdsmen killings because open grazing was no longer popular in civilised cultures.

According to him, the commercial cultivation of "alfafa, timothy, Napier, bacharia, and bermuda" grass as cattle feed represented a sizable industry with enormous potential for profit and job creation.

Guanah also urged the Ministry of Agriculture to make the National Pasture Development Programme's operations more well-known and to provide pasture seeds to farmers all throughout the nation.

He expressed sympathy to the deceased's family and asked everyone to exercise caution in their daily lives. (NAN)
