President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja signed into law the 2022 Appropriation Bill and the 2022 Finance Bill.
In the presence of Ahmed Lawan, president of the Senate, Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, and other Federal Executive Council members, the President signed the documents in the Presidential Villa.
President Buhari noted during his speech at the occasion that the 2023 Budget, which was just signed into law, calls for overall spending of N21.83 trillion, an increase of N1.32 trillion above the first Executive Proposal.
According to the President, he signed the appropriations measure into law to allow for an immediate start to implementation.
He instructed Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, to work with the National Assembly to revise the law as needed.
