Bola Ahmed Tinubu was selected as the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in order to preserve national unity, according to Senator Aliyu Wamakko, a former governor of Sokoto State and the current leader of the party in the state.
The Sokoto State Council of Obas, who had come to offer their support during a visit to his Gawon Nama palace, heard Senator Wamakko say this.
Wamakko welcomed the two groups and said that because Nigeria is one country without division, "Sokoto is a home to all the tribes irrespective of where one comes from."
Because "Nigeria is for all of us," he asked Nigerians to "come together and work for a better tomorrow."
Senator Wamakko said that when he served as governor of the state, he eliminated the need for out-of-state students to pay school fees.
He said that in order to ensure their accommodations, he chose one of them for a special advising role in his administration.
He assured them that if the APC were elected in 2023, they would take their worries into consideration.
All APC candidates standing for office in Sokoto State have received the public support of the state's Council of Obas and Residents communities.
The Senator was informed by the Oba in Council during their visit that they were prepared to collaborate with the APC leadership to ensure the party's success in the upcoming 2023 elections in Nigeria, particularly the success of the party's presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmad Bola Tinubu, and the success of the APC gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto state, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto. They were led by Group Chairman Alhaji Surajudeen Sahabi.
The Association of Sokoto State Residents Community and Alhaji Salmanu Muhammad Oke claimed they came to demonstrate their steadfast support for the APC in the next elections.
He continued by saying that Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko's goodwill to the state's citizens during his administration as governor would be remembered forever.
The ceremony was attended by senior party officials including Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, the APC North West Zonal Secretary, and others.
