This comes after his recent announcement that the Forum of Northern Christian and Muslim Political Leaders will support Atiku Abubakar's presidential campaign.
Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State and the general director of the PDP-PCC, released a statement on Sunday announcing Dogara's appointment.
"The leadership of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council wishes to formally announce that Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Campaign Council with immediate effect," the statement said in part.
The statement stated, "This is part of our continued effort to work with our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to rebuild our beautiful country, Nigeria.
Despite this, Dogora has not formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He initially backed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president, but because the ticket is Muslim-Muslim, he has subsequently withdrawn his backing.
Dogara has not yet made any public statements about his new job, but it is widely believed that he will begin serving in this capacity right away.
