Head of the association in the northern states Yakubu Pam, made this declaration on Thursday during a three-day special prayer conference in Kaduna.
Pam claims that rather than hearing attacks from rival candidates, Nigerians would prefer to hear presidential candidates offer answers to the nation's economic and security issues.
"Politicians should endeavour to address economic problems, propose solutions, and avoid defamation and character-assassination operations against rivals," he stated.
More importantly, our presidential contenders shouldn't view the general election as a life-or-death struggle; after all, power comes from God, and nothing happens faster than its own shadow.
Regardless of the situation, religious leaders should be able to speak the truth to authority since we will all have to account for our future actions for everyone we have misled. We can't let them down. We must give them the necessary leadership and guidance to prevent this house from collapsing.
Pam said that the 2023 general election should focus solely on fostering the unity of the north and Nigeria as a whole.
He urged all levels of government to proactively address potential issues before, during, and after the elections.
He stated, "The government equally must guarantee a level playing field for all the candidates of all the political parties and voters for legitimate elections that Nigerians would accept."
