2,655 Kwarans To Receive N53.1m Grant From State, FG Collaboration

 The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, in collaboration with the Kwara State government, has initiated the disbursement of N20,000 to at least 2,655 poor and vulnerable Kwarans under the Federal Government's Grant Vulnerable Groups (GVG) programme.

The second phase of the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP 2.0) was also launched on Wednesday, another loan scheme of President Muhammadu Buhari designed to benefit 6,086 farmers, business owners, widows, and divorcees across the state through the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP).

This came a day after the state government provided interest-free loans to 490 young entrepreneurs through the Kwapreneur (3.0) program, with the top business pitchers receiving checks ranging from N1.5 million to N2 million each.

At the flag-off, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, said the cash grant was part of government’s social inclusion agenda to raise millions of Nigerian citizens out of poverty.

Represented by the Director of Social Development in the Ministry, Taiwo Bashorun, the minister said the 2,655 prospective beneficiaries were drawn from across the 16 local councils of the state.
