Festus Okoye, National Commissioner of the Commission and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, confirmed the news in a press release on Sunday.
The statement says, in part: "Our office in the Oru West Local Government Area was attacked at around 4 a.m. today, Sunday, December 4, 2022, according to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Imo State, Professor Sylvia Uchenna Agu.
"The Conference Room was impacted by the attack, and office fixtures and furniture were destroyed. Other crucial facilities weren't impacted, either.
As you may remember, our office in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State was also attacked on Thursday, December 1st, 2022.
"Overall, in the last four months, there have been seven attacks on our installations in five States of the Federation.
The Commission once more expressed its concern about the effects of what appeared to be a systematic attack on its facilities throughout the nation on the conduct of elections in particular and electoral operations in general, according to Okoye.
In the meantime, INEC has requested that security authorities investigate and prosecute suspects in connection with the most recent occurrence.
