Atiku Abubakar |
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in the elections of 2023, claims Bola Tinubu, the leader of the All Progressives Congress, is peddling "renewed pessimism" to Nigerians.
Through his spokesperson Daniel Bwala, who appeared on Channels TV on Wednesday night, Mr Atiku made this claim.
“Let me tell what they – Tinubu/Kashim Shettima – are selling to Nigerian people, what they call renewed hopelessness,” Mr Bwala said.
“Let me tell you why it is hopelessness. This current government is the government of the APC. The entire manifesto is a campaign against the government. A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
Mr Bwala’s statement comes as a rebuttal to Mr Shettima’s comments, berating Mr Atiku as an incompetent politician who will be retired in next year’s election.
Former vice president Atiku, 75, is squaring off against former ally, Mr Tinubu, 70, for Nigeria’s top job, ahead of other candidates in next year’s general elections.
