One of the members of a group that previously used to threaten riders with firearms in order to steal their motorcycles has been apprehended by the Kebbi State Police Command.
After hiring biker Aliyu Lawal under the guise of a passenger to take them somewhere, Mudasiru Haruna was detained.
He was knocked out cold along the road after being attacked by him with a stone.
Haruna took the motorcycle after pelting Lawal with the stone and sold it for a pitiful sum of money.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, said: “On the 25th October 2022 at about 2:30PM, Mudasiru Haruna, chattered a motorcyclist named Aliyu Lawal and while on transit, the suspect asked the motorcyclist to stop. He claimed that one of his shoes had fallen down and urged the cyclist to stop. When Haruna got down, the suspect picked a stone and hit the cyclist on the head.
“As a result, Lawal fell down unconscious, and Haruna took the motorcycle to Usman Alias, a charger and subsequently sold it to Lawali Gulma, now at large. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and that the sum of N 100,000, being the part payment of the sold motorcycle has been recovered. Investigation into the case is in progress.”
The CP also said that the command under his watch, on October 31, 2022, at about 8:30am arrested Ayuba Rege, 20, who was found in possession of one locally made pistol in his school bag at Government Comprehensive High School, Senchi.
