According to reports, on Tuesday, November 29, John locked himself and his girlfriend inside his room, beating and hitting her head against the wall, and all attempts to persuade him to open the door were futile. Concerned neighbors were said to have called the Ode-Remo divisional police headquarters, and officers were led to the scene of the incident.
After forcing their way into the room, the deceased was discovered in a pool of her own blood and was rushed to State Hospital Ishara, where she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty. John was thereafter arrested and taken into custody.
During interrogations, the suspect was said to have confessed to being an internet fraudster and that a certain amount of money from one of his clients was paid into the account of his girlfriend which she refused to hand over to him.
The deceased refusal to relinquish the money led to a fight between them which eventually led to her death.
