A drunk Nigerian Army soldier has killed an Army General at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Lagos.
The senior officer was reportedly inadvertently run over at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 by Corporal Abayomi Ebun of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Abuja.
The soldier, who was on Pass, attacked Brigadier General James, the NAFRC's Director of Finance, according to the source, who also said that the soldier was intoxicated at the time.
The senior officer was brought to the NAFRC Medical Center as soon as the incident occurred for treatment, according to an internal memo that newsmen obtained.
The memo said that on November 22, around 1:52:30 a.m., CPL Abayomi Ebun of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Abuja, who was on pass and lived at Block P old Barracks NAFRC, drove out of the center and hit BRIG GEN JAMES, who was walking to his house in the center.
“The deceased senior officer was immediately evacuated to NAFRC medical centre where he was confirmed dead.
“The driver was alleged to be drunk and was driving recklessly within the centre.
“Driver is presently detained at the NAFRC Provost for further investigations,” it stated.
